NARRATIVE

The Zero Net Energy Center (ZNEC) is poised to be a leader in the green building industry as the largest net zero building in California and the third largest in the U.S. In addition, the ZNEC leads the nation’s sustainable building standards by already planning to meet the California Energy Commission’s 2030 Net Zero Energy Challenge 17 years ahead of schedule.

The ZNEC is a training facility for electrical contractors within the local chapters of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Located in San Leandro, CA, the project is a gut rehab of a 1980s office building that is on track to achieve zero net energy.
